ECE 342: Intentional Teaching in the Content Areas

The student will:
- Identify and define standards, benchmarks, and performance standards (Standard 4.13).
- Continue to develop a working knowledge of the Michigan Pre-Kindergarten standards and the Grade Level Content expectations for Kindergarten through Third Grade (Standard 4.13).
- Evaluate the usefulness of a variety of developmentally appropriate instructional techniques and formats for teaching particular skills and content (Standards 4.3, 4.7, 4.10, 4.12).
- Demonstrate how language learning can be incorporated in all content learning (Standard 4.5).
- Demonstrate understanding of how assessment is related to planning, implementing, and evaluating curriculum (Standard 3.1).
- Demonstrate understanding of the central concepts, inquiry tools, and structures of each content area (i.e., literacy, math, science, and social studies) (Standards 4.6, 4.7).
- Plan and demonstrate an activity that integrates objectives from two or more content areas (Standard 4.11).
- Use appropriate accommodations for children with disabilities and planning lessons that respect individual languages and cultures (Standards 4.2, 4.9)
